Ok, all forums and message boards have rules. And just because we have them, doesn't mean they are meant to be broken.
But... since we're bringing it up, failure to follow the below rules will result in either suspension from forum priveliges or being banned.
Please take the time to introduce yourself on the "Introductions" board!
1. Be respectful of other members and their rights to develop their own decisions and opinions of any topic. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
2. No "flaming" other breeders or businesses, no matter how much you disagree with their practices. Stating one's personal experience is not flaming. However, assumptions and speculations towards a breeder's or business' care is considered bashing or flaming. If you can't back it up with solid fact or personal experience, then don't say it. If you have never dealt with a certain breeder but have "heard bad things" don't post it. This is hearsay, and rumors and assumptions are not tolerated. We will not openly diss fellow mouse breeders - no matter who they are or what their breeding practices may be.
3. All aspects of breeding are open for discussion in the breeding section of the forum. The purpose of the breeding is irrelevant, as well as methods used. If you are generally interested in proper breeding ethics, then you are welcome to post here, no matter what your decisions are on culling, linebreeding, or feeder breeding.
4. While feeder breeders are welcome to discuss genetics and breeding practices, please keep any comments of feeding off the forum. Snakes have to eat too. There is no need for a feeder discussion every 5 minutes. So rule #4 is no dicussion of feeders.
5. This is not a vet's office! If you have an emergency, and your mouse needs emergency care, then do not waste time posting about it on this forum, call your vet instead! If you can not or are not willing to take your mouse to a vet, then do not post about it here and upset other members.
6. No posting back to back posts or typing in all UPPER CASE LETTERS. No cursing, no spamming, all the good solid normal board rules. If you aren't here because you have a general interest in mice, their care, and breeding practices, then you are in the wrong place.
7. And, lastly, EMBRACE! There is always room for more mouse breeders in this world. Those of us who already breed will not live forever, who will take our place when we are gone? This board is to teach those coming up to choose breeding practices that will best suit them. It is not about pushing one ideal of breeding methods. We have to embrace our right to choose and to be different. No one is above any one else on this forum. Adminstrator and Moderators are here to make sure things don't get out of hand, but everyone is equal. We will embrace differences, and while we may not always agree, no one's way is the right way. Feel free to disagree with anyone's opinion, no matter what their status. In this same token, we are not here to argue, but healthy debates and discussions are welcome, as long as they are kept in moderation and the other person's opinion is always respected.
All right, thats it! Have fun! And happy posting!
*OK maybe not it... NEW ADDITION APRIL 2009
8. While it's great to catch up on old posts we respectfully would like to keep old threads left where they are without bringing them to an active thread simply by adding something like a photo comment. The valid reasons a an older thread should be brought back up are if there is new pertinent information that would shed light to the subject at hand. We don't want to automatically lock threads when they reach a certain age because of this situation. So rather, if you have a simple compliment/comment, you could possibly send a PM to the person you would like to contact to engage in the discussion at hand versus dragging up an old topic. Sorry for any inconvenience!
New rule additions:
Spamming of any type will result in immediate banning, both for the user ID(s) and IP(s) involved. This is a Family Friendly forum and we will not tollerate any mis-use of this board. Should you feel you were incorrectly identified as a spammer, you may email board administration for further review. However, should you feel the need to spam that email as well, we will further forward all information relating to said spammer to public listings of known spammers for all other board administrators to view. This is not negotiable. No outside links unless they link back to Mouse Fancier.com or its affliates.
Since this a FAMILY FRIENDLY FORUM please use common sense, adult content is not appropriate in any way. People of all ages, members and nonmembers can view these posts. We want to maintain a respectable open forum that will not offend any member or nonmember.
